Summit (beta)
A downloadable game
“We are going to play a game,” your therapist says. “I want you to imagine a version of yourself that would deserve to be loved. What would you need to change?”
In Summit you play as a resident of a haunted lockdown residential treatment facility for adolescent girls. Beyond the gates of the house that you are trapped in, life goes on. High school dances are planned, exams are failed, friendships blossom and burst, while you are forced to strip away your defenses and punished for your every defiance. As you learn to wield the cruelty shown to you against your fellow residents, this house starts to feel like it could be a home.
Summit gives us hushed whispers, risky rule-breaking, queer secrets, a group of troubled teens desperate to survive, and a locked house haunted by therapists and ghosts, always asking, “what will you do next?”
Welcome to Summit!
We are a sophisticated therapeutic treatment program that helps young women reclaim their lives and strengthen their relationships. We aim to create a safe and supportive environment where teenage girls can feel at home and receive the specialized treatment they need by balancing challenging therapy and a strong therapeutic community. Creating a familial home environment is our utmost priority.
We specialize in treatment for a wide variety of issues that struggling teens may be battling with, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Behavioral issues
- Mood and personality disorders
- Drug and alcohol dependency
- Body image issues
- Self-harm and suicidal thoughts
Summit utilizes intensive group and individual therapy along with therapeutic interventions in order to push residents to deal with their issues head on. Residents are carefully monitored to ensure that they are working to be honest and vulnerable in their therapeutic work and that they can't simply manipulate their way through the program. Residents attempting to manipulate their way home is why we make sure Summit is a place that feels like home. Home is a place you can stay forever. We are certain that our program can give at-risk and troubled young women the safe home they need in their lives.
Summit is a Belonging Outside Belonging game for 3-6 players. It is a diceless and gm-less game where you gain points by making moves that comply with the treatment center program, and you lose points by making insubordinate moves. Throughout play you will discover secrets about yourself, each other, and the House you are trapped in.
Summit includes 10 unique character sheets, 9 setting elements that are revealed throughout play, over 120 secret and ghost cards, and 4 ritual special groups that can add to the horror.
CW: This is a game that deals implicitly and explicitly with physical and psychological abuse, sexual violence, physical violence, drug addiction, transphobia, homophobia, conversion therapy, suicide, self harm, forced institutionalization, and the general perils of being an adolescent.

Given the content warnings, what would you rate your ttrpg? 16+?
I guess? I'm not sure that I would put a hard age rating on it and I am planning to revise the content warnings. I probably wouldn't personally play this game with kids or teens but kids younger than 16 get sent to treatment programs all the time and certainly engage with all of these topics in their lives.
*nods* Understandable!
This is a really incredible game, wow. It's clear so much work went into this. I've never been in a TTI facility, but my sibling has and I was struck - while trying to support her from the outside - just how much of it felt like a horror story. As someone who really works through things narratively, thank you so much for creating this. It made me feel understood and scared and uncomfortable, helped me understand my own suffering bc of the TTI better. Thank you <3
Oh wow thank you so much! I really appreciate it 😊
This looks like a fun intense game. Is it possible to play solo?
It's not written to be played solo, but you can definitely do character/setting creation solo - I'd definitely be curious to hear about your experience of it if you try it solo!
THX. I've downloaded it, so I'll let you know how it goes if I play it solo.
It was really fun! A lot of the features, for instance the secret cards, don't work very well without multiple players. But I enjoyed the character creation and interacting with the world for a while. The setting is really well thought out. I would recommend it for anyone whether they have a group or not and will play it again if I find the right group.
Thank you for the great game Ari!
Thanks so much for trying it and for these thoughts!
